Balnacra Arts & Pottery by Vicky Stonebridge

well heres a fairy that i painted in with Gouache paints. But in many ways i prefer the photoshoppy colours that Rich did.. which i can’t find right now to post up here, bah ! i really MUST learn this colouring, scratchy brush strokes are all good & well in their place, but so’s smooth gradiated blocks of colour. I’m itching to play with acrylics next but progress is terribly slow here as i’m a bit all over the place.

Ha! You want to see my pathetic attempts at ‘painting’ with felt tips and water! Believe me, you’re Monet and Raphael in comparison.

The thing to remember when painting with felt tips is not to apply the felt tips directly to the page. Rub them on something non-absorbant, then just drop some water on the residue. I used that plastic-y paper that adhesive stickers came on.

Eh? But that would take ages, and you couldn’t be as precise as you might sometimes need to be. You’d be better off just breaking open the pen, draining out the ink, then using something sturdy (I bought a bamboo brush recently that would do the job), and then dip it in water.
