I never have enough storage/ carrying boxes and bags, doing art workshops can involve transporting a car load of arty crafty bits- But i refuse to buy new plastic crates or baskets as part of my anti consumer product drive. I was having another clear out (a never ending task ! ), one of the things i never know how to recycle is laminated posters/ signs, running all the events I do, I produce a lot of these. I had some big ones, taped together for an A2 sized A frame from an Open studio exhibition some years back.. ah ha! simple!
Now some of the craft items you see made from recycled objects have taken hours of loving care to convert them into something beautiful, But i have a rather utilitarian philosophy- time, energy, cost all gets factored in, the simplest, quickest methods of creation are what i am looking for, using the least materials and time. Which is by way of an excuse i guess for these bin/ basket/ bucket / containers not being very beautiful. But they only took ten minutes or so, a few rags, a hole puncture & pair of scissors. result. This compulsion to not put anything to landfill is why it takes me so long to tidy up! But it is worth it to get useful stuff for nothing.
