Setting up the Pottery

It has been all go since deciding to run a Pop-up Pottery this year and getting permission on the 16th.  I have been sharing some pictures as I go on social media, and it is lovely to see the project through other people’s eyes. Because for a while this is all I could see !
Gradulally I have sorted stuff out and car load by carload have taken the mould, damp and broken stuff away to be recycled. We have some items for sale on the Face book page for ‘Lochcarron Free ads’. and the tools and good items like the projects marquee and chairs I have put to the back of the building behind screens.

It seemed to take forever to clear the floor even, the ten years of damp build up is going to take forever to sweep out! Every time it rains the building leaks and floods, from teh windows, through the walls, under the doors, so all my equipment will be raised on bricks and I am working on the outside …20150321_170747web 20150325_11350620150321_170947
Before & after, or at least half way after !20150325_16143820150325_161428much of my pottery equipment is small enough to fit in the car, my poor poor car! But the kick wheel I have is way too heavy & big. Peter from a local garage very kindly helped out with his minibus & i was able to shift the wheel, a worktop & a couple of big paintings in one go. This is the cluttered workroom at home the wheel was being used in before…20150325_093246
and this is it’s lovely new space in the Smithy!20150325_170528
Wednesday 25th was a lovely dry day so I managed to take a lot of things outside to scrub the mould off them, and make a start on digging some drainage. It is coming together & I can’t wait to start making pots ! The bright flowery screens in the picture below were beings stored in there & came from an exhibition on biodiversity in the past, i love how they brighten up the space as well as hide some of the clutter! Next job is to move the kiln, and all the small equipment and tools, and set up a retail display…. But today it is raining, so i might be fighting the mud as well ! But it is all on schedule & will be open and ready next week!  Contact me to book a space in one of the classes ! 20150325_170556
