Prices for Pottery sessions

So basically, Pottery classes cost> Time + what you make + postage.
You can choose to come back and glaze your items, to collect the finished items, or to have them posted on to you.
Sessions are usually an hour or an hour and a half which is plenty of time to make a couple of items.
Aprons and shirts are provided.
Booking is required.
Dogs are welcome.
The whole pottery process can take around 3 weeks.
You can hand-make pottery but rolling, pinching, coiling, and the potters wheel etc, the potter will guide and help where needed and let your own creativity flow !
Wear old and warm clothing.
Maximum group size 6.
under 6yrs old will need an adult to help them, toddlers will need an adult with them to stop all sorts of messy disasters.
The studio is a working environment, it has dust, clay, hazardous materials ( glazes etc ), heat ( kiln, heaters, hot water ), sharp tools, moving parts, etc while every effort is taken to minimize risk to the public & we are fully insured, people are asked to be responsible for their own safety and well being, use common sense so that ‘health and safety’ doesn’t have to ‘go mad’. Practical, creative pottery classes are a great way to practice using tools and developing skills, sometimes it is healthy to get a little messy.

Cost break down

  • Studio time = £25 per hour for the whole group or individual( this covers tuition & studio overheads ) ,
  • If not keeping anything it costs £1 per go ( to cover the cost of clay, preparation & recycling )
  • If making items for the pottery to finish, glaze and fire for you it is £4 each item, ( assuming an average sized bit of clay 300- 400g ) unless they are very big £6 or tiny £1+. ( this covers, clay & glaze cost, + potters time to finish, fire, glaze, re-fire and look after the pots as well as studio prep and tidy up before class )
  • If making items which you want to come back and glaze paint yourself they will cost £3.50 each to make.  very big ones £5.50 and tiny ones £1.50 . (This covers prep and tidy up time, finishing and once firing the pots. )
  • If you are coming back to glaze your own pots, the potter will let you know when they are ready, then you will pay studio time again, plus £1.50 per item ( this covers prep and tidy time, firing and glaze costs )
  • When your pots are finished and ready ( in about 3 weeks ) you can come and collect them, or have them posted to you. this is £3 per parcel of up to  2kilos of pottery.  Larger items or amounts or overseas postage is calculated at cost.
