We’ve set up a corner for refillables in the pottery studio. Balnacra Pottery already has a policy of ‘towards zero waste’, while it’s currently very difficult to calculate the carbon footprint of a small business, I try to offset this by using other peoples waste for a lot of my processes, ( packaging, containers for clay and glazes, bottles for glaze effect, sawdust for raku firings, etc etc ), I also grow and plant a lot of trees and plants to compliment my business activities ( gardening and crofting ). While I can reuse many plastic containers at the studio, I would rather not be buying them in the first place, especially for regular household use. Our nearest refillables shop is 25miles away, so I wanted to create the opportunity locally for people to reduce the use of disposable plastics for household goods.
